For a long time, relatives cooked meals for patients on traditional open fires in the wasteland outside the hospital site.

Since 2012, however, families have access to an energy-efficient wood-gasifier oven for the duration of their relative's stay in the hospital. Fuel consumption is halved by the use of these ovens - a financial saving for the family and at the same time a small contribution towards the conservation of the region's remaining forests.
